I embarked on this journey with the will to understand a bit more, to get some answers to myself about this intriguing part of the world, the Sub-Indian Continent.

I think, in a way, everybody’s a bit fascinated and mesmerized by this special cultures housed here, by the colour of life, traditions and their unique way of living.

Is one of the cradles of civilization if we think about the Sanskrit language, about similar faiths like Hinduism with all the others developed and derived from: Budhism, Jainism, Sikhism, are all born here. It is a multidimensional space , an amalgam, a symphony of strong feelings, colours, sounds and smells.

I was told, that is a great challenge for every traveler to come here. So, I took the challenge; I want to be seduced, overwhelmed, frustrated or whatever other feelings upon my senses by this world. I wanted this place to dare me, since I personally harboured a   grand desire to travel in this part of the east world.

The cultural aspect, may I say, is the most appealing to me.But one has to be prepared for it.To do his homework well; Read, listen, watch.  Be prepaired to face their culture. One of my childhood heroes, Kipling is responsible for many of my desires regarding traveling to places in the orient. I thought I have to see the places of the confusing Hindu dieties, and all that Casts system, the place of the Mughals and the Rajputs  & Marathas, the most hot spot, the pearl of the orient of the ones mighty
British Empire. The place that houses artound 17 % of the world population, and why not, the largest democracy in the world, India. They also represent in the modern economical world, the biggest middle-class market. Let’s face it! Who, does not want to travel to a continent that has The Himalayas, Kashmir, Rajasthan, Manipur, Goa, The Indian Ocean and The Arabian Sea with the exotic
Sri Lanka and The Maldives Atolls. And not to forget the unique Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the eastern
Andaman Sea.

I spent a memorable summer back home in Transilvania. I was thinking also all the time about my next destination, my over winter odyssey. Since I had my return ticket flight to Cairo, Egypt around early September, all was very easy. Thanks to Air Arabia, you can fly very cheap to Sri Lanka, via the Emirat of Sharjah.. So, I flew back to Egypt, wich in the last 3 years became my second home. Both,
Cairo and Sinai. I spent 5 weeks with some friends there. It was the Holy month of Ramadan, very special atmosphere especially in Cairo. Also, one of the main reason I returned in September was to attend the  Bedouin wedding  of my good hearted companion, Bob. The man who helped me, welcomed me in the Bedouin community I lived with for 2 winters in magical Sinai. To be there for them, together in joy with the people who considered me their brother for all this memorable time. The wedding was canceled,  unfortunately.

I was ready after a while, to change the world, the climate, the food. I was on my way to
Sri Lanka. I had in front a long flight and a lengthy stop-over in the Emirates. Sort of the last bite of the sensitive Arab world, I thought. But it was actually my introduction to the new world I was about to explore (I promise a blog post on this).

So, between October and next summer I’m in The Sub Indian Continent. Nomading around.
